Fantasy Banquet for Bibliophiles

Congratulations to Martin Brayne, winner of the Banquet for Bibliophiles Competition 2021

The winning entry, titled 'Dining with Samuel Rogers' will be published in our Summer 2021 Issue.

Two runners up, 'Bound Together' by Jess Moody, and 'Gertrude Stein Sends Her Apologies' by S. Lycett, will be published online at the end of May.

 

A NEW writing competition will be announced at the end of the year, for 2022.

Competition Rules & Regulations

Conditions

  • Entrants may come from any country and must have reached the age of sixteen.
  • Entrance is free.
  • No professional qualifications or writing experience is required to enter.
  • Only one submission per applicant will be considered.
  • Automated entries, bulk entries and third-party entries will be disqualified.
  • Entries should be submitted as .pdf file, size A4.
  • Entries should ideally be between 700 - 800 words. Any submissions that are longer than 1000 words are likely to be disqualified.
  • The judges’ decision is final. No correspondence will be entered into.

Procedure

  • Entries should be sent to info@thebookcollector.co.uk with the subject heading ‘Banquet Entry’
  • PDF files should be named with the entry title and name of the author.
  • Author contact details will be collected at the time of submission and should not be included in the entry document.
  • Every entry will receive an acknowledgement via email.
  • The competition will be open between November and January.
  • The entries will be reviewed by a panel of judges at The Book Collector.
  • The winning entry will win a prize of £500 (or the equivalent in dollars or euros).
  • The winner will be notified by email and/or phone.
  • The winner will be announced in February.
  • The winner will have their entry published by The Book Collector.
  • A selection of runners up may have their entries published online by The Book Collector, at the sole discretion of the judges and the Editor.

Copyright remains with the originator but The Book Collector reserves the right to reproduce any or all of the entries, with appropriate credits, in a future issue or issues; and to display entries (with full accreditation) during the course of any publicity.
