Back Issues: Your PDF Archive Is Back

We’re pleased to announce a new addition to your My Account area: Back Issues — giving subscribers simple access to PDF copies of every issue of The Book Collector, from 1947 to the present.

When we launched our new website, we made the difficult decision to retire our previous integrated PDF archive. Over time, the system had become increasingly complex and expensive to maintain, and was holding back some of the other improvements we wanted to make to the website.

Our main digital archive is now hosted through Exact Editions, which provides an excellent online reading experience and powerful search tools for finding articles and subjects across the entire run of the journal. However, we heard from many subscribers that they missed the straightforward option to download, save or print an issue or individual article.

So we’ve brought it back.

The new Back Issues archive is deliberately simple: subscribers can browse the complete collection, select an issue, and read, save or print the PDF. The files themselves are not individually indexed, but a basic search function is available to help point you towards relevant issues. For more precise searches across the archive, we still recommend using the Exact Editions archive, where search results are indexed in much greater detail.

We hope you enjoy exploring this collection — whether you’re looking for a particular article, revisiting an old favourite, or simply browsing through the history of The Book Collector.

You’ll find Back Issues in your My Account area, using the “Back Issues” link in the menu on the left.
