Spring has Sprung

Our Spring 2026 issue has just been published with a suitably daffodil-yellow cover containing a wealth of good things. Cathleen Baker chronicles the story of The Legacy Press, her unique publishing business for the book arts, while from the other side of the world we learn about Lam Cheung Chung’s collection of Chinese seals in Hong Kong. There are several pieces to delight bookbinding enthusiasts, and the winner of last year’s Colin Franklin Book Collecting Prize at Oxford sets out his books in the context of Nazi Germany’s conflicted attitudes to homosexuality. It’s all accompanied by the usual mix of news, comment and reviews and if you’re not already a subscriber, this new website makes it very easy for you!

Our Summer number is now in preparation to appear in early May in time for the Firsts Book Fair, London’s annual celebration of all things bibliophilic. This year’s Fair theme is Revolution and we will be reflecting that in various ways. We will have a stand at Firsts throughout the Fair, where we will be delighted to meet friends old and new – if you don’t already have the dates in your diary, go to www.firstslondon.com and keep an eye on that site as the full programme is developed. The Fair provides a great opportunity to see lots of interesting books and to meet dealers and fellow bibliophiles – you don’t have to buy anything to have a good day there, but taking something home with you is always a bonus!
